Roadmap
Planned work on the Common Provenance Model, its ontologies, and the related guidance.
Designing provenance chains
- Modelling guide. A method for designing a provenance chain from a use case: identifying the provenance controllers and the described objects exchanged between them, delimiting the provenance components, choosing the main activities and the connectors, and representing the domain-specific information with the domain ontologies.
- Knowledge base for AI-assisted design. A machine-readable knowledge base derived from this website, enabling large language models to design CPM provenance graphs from user inputs such as use case documentation.
Documents
- PDF versions of the CPM specification and of the ontologies.
Next revision of CPM
- Capitalized class names as type values in PROV-N and PROV-JSON, e.g.
prov:type='cpm:ForwardConnector'; the lower-case type values will be marked as deprecated in CPM-O, not removed, so that existing data stays valid. - Corrections of the known errata in ISO 23494-2.
Ontologies
- Validation constraints for CPM-O, e.g. SHACL shapes and exact cardinalities.
- Further axioms in CPM-O: the structural relations of the traversal information, disjointness of classes, and functional properties.
- Registration of the ontologies and their prefixes in public registries, e.g. prefix.cc, LOV, and FAIRsharing.
