Adoption

Where the Common Provenance Model is already used: in technical implementations and in normative documents.

Technical adoption

Implementation of the CPM in a particular setting, such as software, an organization, or a research platform.

BBMRI-ERIC

Five European biobanks of the BBMRI-ERIC infrastructure carried out a pilot implementation of the CPM and the related ISO 23494 series in 2026. The implementation will be extended to further biobanks in 2027.

UNCAN.eu

In the UNCAN-Connect project, provenance based on the CPM is being implemented in the UNCAN.eu platform, an open-source "federation of federations" platform for cancer research data.

Czech National Repository Platform

The National Repository Platform for Research Data (NRP), part of the Czech national implementation of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), has adopted the CPM.

RationAI

The RationAI research group at Masaryk University uses the CPM to manage the provenance of the group's experiments.

RO-Crate

The Common Provenance Model RO-Crate profile (version 0.1) specifies how provenance files that follow the CPM are included in an RO-Crate.

Normative adoption

Requirements or recommendations to use the CPM in downstream standards, domain- or scenario-specific guidelines, regulatory texts, and similar documents.

ISO standard for NGS applications in plant health and food production

An ISO standard for provenance in next-generation sequencing (NGS) applications in plant health and food production adopts the CPM.

QUANTUM data quality label

The QUANTUM project deliverable DQU Guidelines recommends the CPM as part of the QUANTUM data quality label. The label is intended as an input for an implementing act of the European Health Data Space (EHDS) Regulation (EU) 2025/327.
